About Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is a specialist area of physiotherapy treating both Women and Men and relates to any problem in and around the pelvis. Pelvic Health Physiotherapy can provide invaluable support at any period of your life and can help to relieve and manage a wide range of conditions.

Many women suffer with problems with their bladder, bowel or pelvic floor causing problems such as pain, incontinence, discomfort or dragging sensations from a vaginal prolapse, painful intercourse, constipation as well as pain during and after their pregnancy. NHS England suggest one third of women will experience problems in their lifetime and often put up with these issues for years before seeking help. This is either due to embarrassment or because they are unaware that help is available.
Men can also suffer with problems such as incontinence, erectile dysfunction, bowel problems and Chronic Pelvic Pain. Men are even less likely to discuss such problems due to embarrassment because of the sensitive nature of the problems or stigma associated with such issues. However, help is available and Pelvic Health Physiotherapy can help to alleviate and manage these problems. The correct assessment, advice and treatment techniques can improve your quality of life.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is also invaluable as a preventor to problems arising, such as when heading into a pregnancy, before the onset of menopause or before planned surgery. It can help to fully prepare you to deal with these times in the best way possible before problems arise.
